Bridge in Nature Reserve

Published: 19 June 2019

The Town Council, in conjunction with East Hampshire District Council officers plus the Deadwater Valley Trust; have engaged a local engineering company to replace the dilapidated concrete bridge situated in the Nature Reserve - close to Hollybrook Park / Britannia Close.

Funding has been met by Section 106 funds from East Hampshire District Council.

The old bridge had come to the end of its life and was totally removed. The new bridge is much more sympathetic to the surroundings, being predominantly wooden, with hidden steel supports.

Strict requirements from the Environment Agency were imposed as there were potential contamination issues to be considered in a sensitive environment.

All together the works took just under three weeks to complete.
