Town Mayor
Whitehill Town Mayor
William Wain
William (Bill) Wain is the current mayor of Whitehill and Bordon. Apart from the normal Mayors duties Bill is also Chairman of Whitehill Town Council. Not an easy task keeping Councillors in line and controlling Council meetings. Bill has been a resident of Whitehill since 1982 and is involved in just about all aspects of the Towns well being and development, from the Deadwater Vally Trust to the Town Partnership.
Bill is a keen advocate of the Town Plan and seeing Whitehill and Bordon develop, but is adament that care should be taken to preserve wildlife and the natural beauty of our woodlands and parks.
You will often see Bill around the town performing the Mayor's duties at local schools, businesses and events. A very active member Bill is very approachable and keen to meet local people.
Whitehill and Bordon's Town Mayor is elected each year by Council Members at the Annual General Meeting held in May. This position carries the responsibility of Chairmanship of the Council as well as being the face of the Council at public events. The role of Chairman means a lot of extra work as the Chairman is expected to attend meetings of the Planning and Finance committees as well as Full Council meetings. It requires someone who is dedicated to the Town and is willing to give up their own time in this demanding and completely voluntary role.
