Leeroy’s Valentine Gala
The Whitehill Town Council Mayor holds an annual event to raise money for a chosen charity each year. This year, The Mayor’s charities are Bordon Food Bank and Chloe’s and Sophie’s Special Ears Fund.
On Thursday 16 February, the Mayor of Whitehill and Bordon, Councillor Leeroy Scott, hosted his Valentine Gala alongside the Mayoress, Lisa Fogerty Scott at The Forest Community Centre. This was a Charity Dinner to raise funds for his chosen charities – Bordon Food Bank and Chloe’s and Sophie’s Special Ears Fund.
Over 130 guests were in attendance, including local councillors and representatives from the armed forces and local organisations. Guests were able to enjoy a buffet consisting of Indian and Jamaican food and were entertained by Farnham band Brobed Stils. The Mayor even joined them on stage and treated the audience to a song! Leeroy’s rendition of “You are my Sunshine” went down well with the guests, many of whom joined in with the chorus.
Local businesses were extremely generous leading up to the event, donating prizes for the raffle and the Mayor was delighted with the proceeds from this. Prizes included a fridge freezer, dash cam, hampers, vouchers to name but a few. A full list of individuals and companies who donated are listed below.
Councillor Scott said: “Thanks to all the people who contributed, including those who attended, those who helped and those who generously donated raffle prizes. Also special thanks to my two sons, Makhaya and Marley, PA Helen, our office staff and Cllr Bisi Kennard for helping out. It was well attended. Music fantastic! Bless!”
Councillor Andy Tree (Leader of the Town Council) said: “Leeroy’s hard work and vision for this event has very much lived up to expectation and I am very proud that we have him as our Town Mayor. Thank you to Leeroy and his wife ‘Mayoress’ Lisa! Me and my wife Katrina thoroughly enjoyed a successful evening!”
