The flooding of Mill Chase Recreation Ground
The flooding of Mill Chase Recreation Ground
As previously reported:
During the past few years, we have been doing the recommended work to the field and land ditches to help with the irrigation & drainage situation, however the tree roots have broken through the underground water outlet pipe in a few areas of the water pipe causing blockage and therefore not taking the volume of surface water from the field that it is designed to. The water pipe runs from our land under a car park, under Weyford School and down Washford Lane to the stream.
Storm Ciaran produced an excessive amount of rainfall over the last couple of days, and like other parts of the UK, this has caused a flooding situation which has been exasperated due to the following drainage problems stated above.
In early 2024, the new underground water drainage system will be installed down Washford Lane and with the aid of the water pumps, Mill Chase will drain more effectively and the land will be available for use.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we thank you for your patience in this matter.
